The Ugly List: Ugly Ancients — Saga of the Storm - These Warlords have never known the thrill of a top 8 appearance. Can you make their dreams come true? These Warlords are also worth extra points in the Online Circuit rankings!
Where: Warlord Discord / Untap
Game Rules: 5E Rules
MRP & Errata: Most recent printings and errata will be enforced. Additionally, for this event, Amulet of Waking is considered to have the following text:
For the purposes of card effects, targeting, and react triggers (not game effects or other parts of a cost), this character is always considered ready. This character may perform non-Spend actions while stunned.
This should mean that Amulet of Waking functions in the way you remember it working from 2023 and before. A character with Amulet of Waking equipped can fall forward without triggering the Biting West Wind, since for the purposes of the Wind’s react trigger, the character will always have been ready. Similarly, you cannot react with Assassination on a melee strike against a character with Amulet of Waking equipped.
Jautya Syne FAQ:
Q: When does Jautya’s static ability occur?
A: Jautya’s ability fires after starting armies have been revealed, during the “Preparing for Battle” stage of the game. The first turn has not yet begun.
Q: Can I react to entering play with a character I choose with Jautya?
A: No. You cannot take reacts before the first Ready Phase of the game, though static effects will still apply (500.5)
Q: Is it Daybreak or Nightfall when Jautya’s ability goes off?
A: It is Nightfall. Daybreak is the first turn, and the first turn has not yet begun.
Q: Can I ignore enter play restrictions (like card or rank requirements) with Jautya’s ability?
A: No. If you cannot legally put the character into play, either because of your rank structure or some other restriction, that part of Jautya’s ability fizzles. Then, when Jautya shuffles himself into your deck, you lose the game.
Q: Can I start with Jautya in my deck and my choice for Warlord in play?
A: You must start with Jautya in play. However, you can also start with the character you know you are going to choose with Jautya in play. You do not need to do this, and this does not prevent you from changing your Jautya choice in subsequent games.
